

Of Jackson, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Delores Burke; four daughters, Kathryn Broyles, Debbie (Donald) Crum, Tammy (Jerry) Nelson, and Tonia Piper; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Sherry Edens; brother-in-law, Edward Rigelman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, loving family members, and friends. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Joann Burke; sister, Betty Doering; and brothers, Jack Burke, Bill Edens, and Russell West. Mr. Burke was born in Litchfield, Michigan on June 19, 1931 to Donald and Bernice (Lysher) Burke and attended Jackson Public Schools. After serving in the United States Army he returned to Jackson and retired from Kelsey-Hayes after 29 years of service. Don enjoyed playing cards, harness racing, spending time with family and taking their photos. As a hobby he recorded videos and shared the many he had with family and friends. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. According to his wishes, cremation has been selected and a celebration of his life will be held at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Mr. Burke will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Military Honors. Don was always willing to help when he was able to. Memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice is encouraged.
