

Dorothy “Elaine” McKinney departed this life to be present with the Lord on Friday,
May 28, 2021. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Marquita; her parents, Willie F. Allen, Sr. and Annie B Allen and ex-husband, Marcus McKinney, Sr. Dorothy “Elaine” as she was affectionately known by family and friends was born in Russellville, Kentucky. She moved to Jackson as a young lady, but always made the pilgrimage with family back to Russellville, which was always home. Elaine was employed by Mercy/Foote Hospital as a surgical scheduler until early retirement. She was a lady of leisure for a short time and rejoined the workface as a “CNA’ with Jackson County Medical Care Facility until permanent retirement. Elaine was always surrounded by the love and the presence of her grandchildren; but in her down time, she enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles, along with thumbing through gardening and home decorating magazines. She gave her life to the Lord and was a member of the Higby St Church of Christ where she once served as “chair” of the precious “Golden Agers”; which is a club for senior members that enjoy fellowship, bible study and outings amongst themselves. Elaine leaves to cherish her memory; her son, Ronald (Sherry) Allen; daughter, Marquette (Phillip) Patterson; brother; Willie (Velrie) Allen all of Jackson, MI; bonus children, Marcus (Tilar) McKinney, Jr, Tina Wyrick and Sabrina (Don) Smith, Mark (Raquel) Bell, grandsons, LaShawn McKinney, Ronte’ Allen and Cameron Allen; granddaughters, TaMesha McKinney, Shanna (Michael) Walls, Takeia Thornton and Camille (Antuan) Glaspie; niece, VaMecia; nephews, VaMar, VaMario, Raymond and Keith, all of Jackson, MI. A special aunt, Elizabeth Mason of Russellville, KY. Further generations include, 19 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren; special cousins in Russellville and Louisville, KY; sisters-in-love of Lansing and Flint, MI; along with many nieces and nephews and cousins. The family will receive family & friends for visitation at the Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home on Thursday, June 3 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. Home Going Service will be held at the Church of Christ, 706 Higby St on Friday, June 4, 2021; family hour at 11:00 AM and Celebration of Life at 12:00P.M. She will be laid to rest at Roseland Memorial Gardens.
