Eric C. Ollila

Age 57, passed away February 15, 2012. Survived by Teri, his loving wife and soul mate of 27 years; his children, Andrea (Byron) Tessman, Sarah and Matt Ollila; and sister, Wendy (Randy) Treacher. Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Wally and Pat Ollila. Eric was a graduate of Jackson High School, Class of 1973, Northern Michigan University, Class of 1977, and received his Master’s degree from Ferris State University. He was a gifted teacher both in and out of the classroom and taught at Jackson Community College for 31 years in the Manufacturing Technology and Math Departments. He also served as the Director of Apprenticeship and Related Trade Instruction. Eric enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Cedarville, MI with his family. He will be remembered for his love of life, sense of humor, and ability to fix anything. His warm heart touched many lives and he will be greatly missed. Eric has been cremated according to his wishes and will be buried at a later date in Cedarville Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at Jackson’s First Presbyterian Church Monday February 20, 2012 at 4:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and Monday 3:00 PM until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to either Prostate Cancer Research c/o Dr. Maha Hussein at University of Michigan or Arbor Hospice.
