Gary was born on May 5, 1945, in Sandusky, Michigan, to the late William and Irene (Hull) Goodwine. After graduating from Sandusky High School, he was proud to serve in the U.S. Army, where he earned the Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14) and Marksman (Pistol .45) badges and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Berlin). Following his military service, Gary returned to work on the family farm for many years and was also employed at Yale Rubber. He later moved to Ann Arbor before eventually making his home in Brooklyn.
Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a passionate bowler, once achieving the perfect 300 game. He was also a car and motorcycle enthusiast and found great joy in taking his Harley-Davidson for drives. In his later years, Gary enjoyed reading, watching television and movies, listening to music, reading the news, and playing solitaire.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Goodwine; son, Shane (Bobbi) Goodwine; grandchildren, Chad Goodwine and Abigail Goodwine; nephews, Todd (Dawn) Goodwine and Scott (Patricia) Goodwine; and several great-nephews and a great-niece.
