Howard T. Dowell

Of Jackson passed away on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Genevieve (Forner); sons, Daniel and Joseph as well as a daughter, Deborah. He is survived by two sons, Tom and Garrett Dowell and a daughter, Mary (David) Dowell-Wolf; grandchildren, Sarah Wolf, Chris, Lauren, Brandon and Logan Dowell. Howard was one of three children born to Dixon and Hazel Dowell in Jackson. He graduated from Jackson High class of 1938. He served in the Army Air Corps. during WWII. He retired from the U.S. Post office as a clerk and also worked for the Jackson Citizen Patriot during the 1970’s. Howard was a gentle, kind hearted man; wonderful father and friend to anyone who knew him. He had a special love for animals and for those who wish contributions may be made to the Cascades Humane Society in his honor. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Countryside Care Center and Allegiance Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. According to his wishes cremation has been chosen and a chapel service will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery on Tuesday, September 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. James Shaver officiating. Military honors provided by the Jackson County American Legion Ritual Team.
