

James (Jimmie) Pack of Jackson, MI was born on April 23, 1931 in Lovely, KY to the late Gus and Betty (Davis) Pack. Jimmie was preceded in death by his wives Barbara (Shanes) Pack and Peggy (Parsley) Pack; brothers, Robert Lee Pack, Ked Pack, Jack Pack, Benjamin Pack, John Paul Pack, Bankie Lee Pack; sisters, Nadine Pack, Bonnie Jean Pack, Buelah Pack, Ruth Chaffins, Lewanna Weddington and Wilma Dean James; daughters, Tempist M. Pack, Penny Lynn Pack and Jamie Nicole Pack.
James is survived by his son Scott (Sara) Pack of Jackson, MI; daughter, Christina (Dave) Mitchell, of Houston, TX and Denise Bailey of Inez, KY as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jimmie lived most of his younger life in Kermit, West Virginia where many friends and family still live today. Jimmie volunteered for the U.S. Navy and served proudly from 1949-1950. He returned to the hills of West Virginia, where he loved to care for his family. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and became a Staff Sargent. Jimmie was a combat engineer and bravely served in Korea during the war. He was proud of his service.
Jimmie returned home and went to Concord University in Athens, West Virginia. He then moved to Jackson, MI and started his career on the railroad where he retired with 41 years of service. Jimmie loved nature, hunting and fishing which brought him great joy and peace. He loved growing a garden. Also, he loved going to estate sales, house auctions as he called them. He loved a good home cooked meal and plenty of fresh bread! Jimmie was a fierce defender of his family. Jimmie was a Christian man who accepted our lord and savior later in his life and loved and trusted him dearly. Jimmie will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive family and friends for visitation on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 5 PM - 7 PM at Burden & Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Avenue, Jackson, MI 49202). Services will follow at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 2 PM. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park with military honors following services.
