June Carol McCloud

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away at home with family by her side on March 4, 2025, at the age of 78. June was born in Henderson, Tennessee on July 1, 1946, to parents Eugene and Ruth Shields and George and Junies Foxx. June moved to Jackson, Michigan in 1964. She served the Jackson Community in different capacities, most notably as supervisor of the youth with the Jackson Office of Employment and Training. She was known for her love for children, her home always open to them. She was the founder of McEd's Cleaning Service and retired from Sam's Club. She accepted Christ early on at Oak Grove Church of Christ in Henderson, Tennessee, continuing at Adams Higby Street Church of Christ where she was a faithful member. She was a mother figure to many and her love for everyone goes without saying. Above all things, June loved God and taught that to everyone she encountered. She was a shining light for the world to see. June is survived by her children Patrick (Ruthann) Edwards Sr., Debra Green, Joseph (Tesha) Edwards, Ollie (Kim) Wilks, Ricardo (Letty) McCloud, Donta Murray, Chris (Natalie) Berry, and Rose Mary (Harold) Williams; special son-in-law Terence Green; daughter-in-law Ashley Murray; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings Horace Shields, Eugene, Ruby Thomas, and Evelyn (Joe) Voltz; sister-in-law Glady Shields; special friends and family Faye Howard, Joann Nod, Iris, Reggie, Vance Hamilton, Ann Harrell, Roger, Oliver, and Pearl; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Willie James McCloud; parents Eugene and Ruth Shields and George and Junies Foxx; siblings John (Betty) Ross, MacArther Shields, Mattie (Gary) Davis-Haynes, Lois (Gene) Lockett, Laura Bond, Anita (Jeff) Long, and Marie Ross Valentine; and Aunt Deliah.

A Homegoing service of June's life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Higby Street Church of Christ (706 S. Higby Street, Jackson, Michigan) with Doctor Kevin D. Williams officiating. Family hour will be on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 11:00 AM until time of service at the church. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
