June Layman Mitchell

Of Jackson, Michigan went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the age of 92. June was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania on June 17, 1933, to parents Clyde and Emma Layman. June graduated from Doylestown High School in 1951, from Bob Jones University in 1955, and Eastern Michigan University in 1969. She married Clinner Mitchell in 1956. June taught in Stockbridge Community Schools from 1963 - 1988. She also faithfully served alongside her husband as he served as Pastor of the Pleasant Lake Bible Church from 1960-1999. June is survived by her children; Richard Layman Mitchell, Daniel Perkins (Debe) Mitchell, David Lee (Christina) Mitchell, and Timothy Douglas (Jolynne) Mitchell; grandchildren David IV, Tyler, Tanner, Russel, Whitney, Olivia, and Lauren; great-grandchildren Landon, Sadie, Ellie, Bekah, and Susie; and brother Dr. Royce Elwyn (Carole) Layman. She is preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Emma Layman, husband Clinner P. Mitchell and daughter in law Janet Mitchell. A memorial gathering will be held at Northwest Baptist Church (7600 Lansing Avenue, Jackson, MI 49201) on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Timothy Ericson officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Burden- Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 East Michigan Avenue, Jackson, MI 49201), and on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Northwest Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until time of service. June will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Clinner at Pleasant Grove Cemetery (7085 Kennedy Road, Munith, MI). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northwest Baptist Church (7600 Lansing Avenue, Jackson, MI 49201) or RBM Ministries (PO Box 128 Plainwell, MI 49080).
