

Of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the age of 91 while under the loving care of Laury Grider and the staff at Garden Estates Care Home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 49 years, Duane R.; brother, Donald Hartman; sister, Virginia Gorton; nephew, Danny Gorton; and nieces, Brenda Hampton Louise Gorton and Robin Varblow. Mae Jean is survived by her two sons, Duane R. (Virginia) and Craig D. (Margo); five grandchildren, Angela, Theodore, Charles (Elizabeth) Melanie, and Christopher; two great grandchildren, Daniel and Tyler; and sister, Donna Leutz. She was born in Jackson to Roscoe and Barbara (Leibundaut) Hartman on March 7, 1925 and is a graduate of Vandercook Lake High School. She was infatuated with traveling and having her grandchildren experience the thrill of it with her. She was always giving towards progressive causes and always wished that people could visit the elderly more often. Mae Jean traveled extensively with Duane after their sons had grown, taking in all western and southern states. She was a loving mother that focused on her two sons, husband Duane, and a beautiful home. An excellent mother and wife now released to the Lord Jesus, to be surrounded by peace and calm where her mind will be hers again in the company of good angels. A service honoring her life will be held at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rich Zawadzki officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Woodland Cemetery.
