Went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Curt A. Bormann. She is survived by her children, Alice (James) Schneider of Ann Arbor, MI, Christine (Ralph) Kirchenberg of Chicago, IL, Louise (Donald) Kennedy of Dexter, MO and Paul (Carolyn) Bormann of Twin Peaks, CA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and loving family members and friends. Marie, the youngest of six children, was born on July 18, 1913 to Paul and Amanda Lenski in Jackson where she was raised. She was a graduate of Jackson High and attended Jackson Business College. She married Reverend Bormann of Albion, MI in 1938. Marie worked alongside her husband during his Lutheran pastorates in Centerville, Mt. Pleasant, and Petersburg, MI. In later years Marie worked as secretary in Forensic Psychiatry at Ypsilanti State Hospital until her retirement there. Following Reverend Bormann’s retirement, they resided in Saline, MI and were active members of Christ Our King Lutheran Church. For many years Marie enjoyed volunteering at Saline Evangelical home where she held weekly bible studies. For the past three and a half years Marie resided at Vista Grande Villa. At one time she was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jackson, where a celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tom Schroeder officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m., just prior to the service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Christ our King Lutheran Church (3255 Waterworks Rd.
