Martha Jane Eley

Martha Eley of Spring Arbor, Michigan passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 under the loving care of Henry Ford Allegiance Hospice Home at the age of 85. Martha is survived by daughter Anna (Tony) Edwards; sons James Eley and David (Debra) Eley; grandchildren Scott, Kristen, Coral, Jennifer, special granddaughter Sara Jane, Jamie, JD, April, Shauna, Michael, Erika; 22 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren.

Martha was born in Hayward, Oklahoma to James Phillip and Annie Sylvia (Oldenburg) Bowers on December 26, 1938. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Charles (Ed) Eley; daughter JoAnn Rogers; twin brother James Bowers; sisters Sylvia Finley and Stella Bowers; great grandson Shawn Essex. Martha enjoyed playing solitaire and completing word searches to keep her mind active. She loved to garden back in the day and canned a lot of the produce from her garden. Martha could often be found in the kitchen cooking a delicious meal for her family. She loved animals and currently had 2 cats that have been the best companions. She loved to watch cooking shows and games shows on TV, listening to country and western music when she could, a NASCAR fan through and through and kept up with the races as much as possible. Martha loved to go out to eat, and gave the restaurant a good review. Martha will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Family will receive friends at Clarklake Cemetery Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM for graveside service.
