Mary Elizabeth Walling

Of Jackson, MI passed away with family at her side on September 17, 2019 at the age of 85. She was born in Jackson on August 12, 1934 to parents Albert and Portia Rowley. She married the love of her life Darell Walling in Jackson on June 2, 1956. She was a homemaker for several years and after her children grew, she became a teacher’s aide. Mary loved music, dancing, and being in the sunshine. She also loved being with her family and friends and doted on her toy and miniature Pomeranians. She also enjoyed word puzzles and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. She could be seen at almost all of her children’s sporting events. She was a member of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church for 85 years. She is survived by her children Tim (Anita) Walling, Tammy Pierce, Dan Walling, Dawn (Tom) Moorehead, Brian Walling, and Fr. James Walling CPM; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Robert and Joseph Rowley. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church with Fr. James Walling officiating. Family will receive friends for visitation at Chas. J. Burden and Son Funeral Home on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a rosary being said at 6:00 PM. Family will also receive friends for visitation at the church on Monday, September 23, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of service. She will be laid to rest at Roseland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Dr, Jackson, MI 49202.
