Michael Eugene Jones

Michael Eugene Jones, affectionately known as “Mike” and lovingly called “the baby of the family,” was born on July 23, 1964, in Jackson, Michigan, to Henry P. Jones Sr. and Lilah Van (Jones) Milton. On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Mike peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and dedication.

Mike was a devoted member of Southside Baptist Church and gave his life to Christ at the young age of 12. This decision shaped the course of his life. Through his unwavering faith and compassionate spirit, Mike brought many others to know Christ, not just through words, but by the way he lived.

A proud graduate of Jackson High School, Mike was known early on for his deep passion for tinkering and building. He had a gift for making race cars run faster and more efficiently, and his love for mechanics became both a hobby and a career. Professionally, Mike put his talents to work as a mechanic, holding positions at Kelsey Hayes and Spartans. Even after facing medical challenges that led him to retire from the City of Jackson, where he worked as a flagger, his love for cars and innovation never faded.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Henry P. Jones Sr., and his brother, Gary Jones. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Lilah Van Milton; his eldest brother, Henry Jones Jr. (Regina); and sister, Michele Hoskins (Paul). Mike is also survived by Uncles William Duling (Henrietta) and DeCarlo Duling, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends who became like family. Known for never meeting a stranger, Mike formed meaningful connections wherever he went and touched countless lives with his humor, generosity, and kindness.

Mike, the man, the mechanic, the mentor—his life was a living testament to the power of kindness, the pursuit of excellence, and the importance of family and friendship. Though he has left this world, the impact of his spirit, wisdom, and love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

Mike will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.
