Age 34, of Jackson, suddenly passed away on Monday, June 23rd, 2014. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home Friday, June 27th, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with visitation starting at 12:00 P.M. A private interment of cremains will take place at Washington Cemetery in Carsonville, MI, at a later date, where he will be laid to rest with his Papa Truitt. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made directly to his mother, Terry Barr or sister, Kendra Adams. Nicholas was born on Friday, October 19th, 1979 in Jackson, the son of Terry A. Barr and David A. Smith. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1998. As a young adult, he found his love and passion for construction trades. He worked diligently to become a licensed electrician and was a former member of the IBEW Local 252 Union. He was very knowledgeable, talented, creative, and took great pride in his work. His greatest achievement in life was when he became a father to his two beautiful children, Katelyn, 13, and Nicholas, 5. He loved both of his children dearly. He was a devoted father, son, grandson, brother, nephew, and true friend. He will always be remembered for his charm, his outgoing personality, and of course that beautiful but often sly “Slick Nick” smile. That smile was infectious. He touched the lives of many who were blessed to know him. He will be greatly missed and will always remain in our hearts. Too soon, he left behind his two children, daughter, Katelyn Tripp (Jessica Gichengi) and son, Nicholas Barr (Jennifer Barr); mother, Terry Barr; father, Kenneth Adams; sisters, Kendra and Breanna Adams; brothers, Brendon Adams and Eddie Smith; grandmother, Betty Truitt; step-grandmother, Diane Adams; nephews, Marcus and Landon James; his “brother”, Troy Chapman; the Smith family and Marie Pearson; along with his many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, David Smith; grandfather, Carl Truitt; papaw, Billie Adams Sr.; grandmother, Darlene Darcy.
