Norman Albert Jacobs

Of Jackson, passed away unexpectedly in New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday April 3, 2010, age 67. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice; two children, Penny and Norman Jr.; four grandchildren, Chelsea Jacobs, Adam Taylor, Macy and Zachary Jacobs; and former daughter-in-law, Christy Jacobs; siblings, Jack Jacobs, Allan (Debbie) Jacobs, Sheila (David) Moffitt, Rick (Pam) McBride, and Dale McBride; three sisters-in-law, Bertha (Rex) Whitaker, Juanita Bradley, and Emma (Gordon) Harris; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack; mother, Beulah; and stepfather, Woodrow "Woody" McBride. Norm served in the U.S. Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant. He retired from Kelsey Hayes after 30 years and continued working with his brother Al in excavating. Norm enjoyed spending winters at his Florida home. He was always working on fixing up his place in Florida, riding his motorcycle and flying his ultra light plane with his best friend, Leo Rice, spending time with his family, working in the garden, or anything else that brought a smile to his face, like playing practical jokes on people. He was love and will be missed by all that knew him. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Anderson officiating. Burial Tompkins Cemetery. Visitation Friday 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the grandchildren's college fund.
