Of Lansing, formerly of Jackson, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the age of 73. He is survived by four children, Jeffrey (Ann Marie) Sparling, Steven (Joann) Platt, Phil (Debbie) Platt, Kathy (Frank) Natchke; eight grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews, Kris, Prudy, Mark and Dyke. Bob was born to Robert H. and Florence (Dawson) Sparling on October 10, 1939. He was a true Michigan State Spartan. His love for Green and White was known by all that knew him. He sold cars in Lansing for 30 years. His love for music was handed down to him by his parents; he was a lifelong member of the SPEBQSA, the Barbershop Music Society. Bob enjoyed life and had many interests, watching classic movies, golf, fishing, planting flowers and of course MSU football and basketball. To Bob, friends were just as important as family. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
A service celebrating his life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m.
Bob would say that he was surrounded by the greatest group of friends, past and present, that any man on Earth could ever have.
