

Passed away January 20, 2011 from complications of heart valve surgery. He was born August 29, 1961 in Jackson, MI and grew up in Munith and Stockbridge. After graduating from Stockbridge High School, he served a two year mission in Japan and attended Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Ron then attended graduate school for two years at Eastern Washington University, where he met his future wife, Sandra (Vetsch) Stone, who survives him. Upon attaining employment with the State of Michigan as a geologist in the Department of Environmental Quality, Ron and Sandy moved to Jackson, where their children were born. Ron enjoyed actively participating in all aspects of his children's lives, with enthusiasm and great pride. He was a devout member of his church, where he served many callings, including high priest group leader. One of his most cherished roles was in doing temple work in Detroit, and he often ministered to those in need. In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by children, Joshua, Jeremy and Sarah; parents, Barbara (Wireman) Brown and Albert Stone; brothers, Rodney (Rowena) and Dennis Stone; nephew, Roman Stone; special friend, Quint Page; mother-in-law, Elaine Vetsch; sister-in-law, BaLinda (Rodger) Matlock; nieces and nephews, Shana, Lindsey, and Scott Matlock, and Kyle and Dustin Welch; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Also sadly missed by many friends, co-workers, and church members. He was preceded in passing by grandparents, Proctor and Ossie Mae (Dotson) Stone, and Seldon and Goldie Wireman. Ron was widely known for his kindness, generosity, and concern for others, and his presence impacted many lives. Though his loss is deeply mourned, his memory will be cherished by all. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3019 W. Morrell St., Jackson, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation Saturday at the church 9:00 a.m. until service time.
