

Of Jackson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer, age 81. She was born in Midland, Michigan to Charles and Marion McAnallen. Ruth was a member of the Northwest Baptist Church in Jackson. She loved to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with anyone she came in contact with, as well as passing out salvation tracks. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School Classes and also participating for several years as Deaconess, working in the kitchen preparing fellowships, luncheons and many get togethers with her wonderful Church Family, who she loved dearly. Ruth enjoyed shopping for the Shoebox Ministries and packing the boxes for needy children all over the world. Ruth retired from Sears after 33 years of service. She enjoyed her employment as a Crossing Guard for Northwest Schools for years. She loved the children. She enjoyed baking, sewing, crocheting and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, since she was a child, listening to them on the radio. She is survived by her children, Douglas A. Johnson of Adrian, Michigan, David B. (Patty) Johnson of Jackson, Michigan and Brenda L. Johnson of Quincy, Michigan, three grandchildren, Tracy, Trever and Zaybranna Gentz all of Jackson, Michigan, one brother, Charles McAnallen, three sisters, Shirley Bork, Patricia Thomas and Lois Pomranky all of Midland, Michigan, several nieces, nephews and cousins, two precious best friends, her little dogs, Heidi and Haley. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Park D. Johnson, her parents, Charles McAnallen and Marion Arabe, sister, Bette and brother-in-law Bill McIntire, sister-in-law Jeanne McAnallen, two nieces, Kelli Dawson RN and Lori Rhead RN, nephew Chad Pomranky, several aunts, uncles and cousins and one precious Chihuahua, Hannah. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for the care Ruth received during her illness from all her Doctors, Nurses and staff at Allegiance Health, The University of Michigan and Hospice. Ruth will be greatly missed by family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held at the Northwest Baptist Church, 7600 Lansing Ave. Jackson, Michigan 49201, on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Hal Jankusky officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Then again at the Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Roseland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northwest Baptist Church for Shoebox Ministries.
