

Of Jackson, has danced off to another realm on January 26, 2013, after her second battle with oral cancer. Born January 19, 1948, she’s the daughter of Eleanor Maxson, still surviving. Preceded in death by her father Richard Maxson, and brother Mathew Maxson. Survived by two children Katrina (Clayton) Striker and Kurt (Denise) Ashley, grandchildren Jessica (Jeff) Dobbs, Daniel and Anthony Striker, brother Gordon (Kathy) Smith, sisters Jackie (Jim) Folk and Debbie Elliott. The love of her life Chester Foulk and his loving children and grandchildren. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was employed as Assistance Payments Worker by the Department of Human Services for the State of Michigan since February of 2000, and worked weekends as a substitute rural carrier for the U.S. Postal Services from September 1990. Graduate of East Jackson High School, former member of Phi Theta Kappa, recipient of the Jeannette Rankin Award, Associates degree from JCC, ( with awards for writing and learning) and Bachelor of Arts degree from Vermont College of Norwich University. Sandra was a volunteer support person for SPOHNC, head and neck cancer patients, motivational speaker for troubled teens, and volunteer movement leader for stress relief and those going through health problems. She enjoyed time with grandchildren, family and friends, dancing, Red Wings Hockey, the outdoors—Especially hiking in National Parks, flower gardening, reading, crocheting/needlework and social issues. A celebration of her life will be held at the funeral home Wednesday January 30, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Per her wishes cremation will follow services. Visitation Tuesday 6-8 P.M.
