

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away on August 17, 2025, at the age of 72. Sandy was born in Jackson, Michigan on December 17, 1952, to parents Sanford Isaiah and Pearl Asenath (Powell) Daugherty. He married his wife of 27 years Barbara on April 1, 1998. Sandy served in the U.S. Army from 1971 - 1981. He also served as a Boy Scout leader for many years. Sandy began college in 2009 at the age of 56 to get an associate's degree in Opticianry, making the Dean's List every semester. He enjoyed gardening, especially his cherry tomatoes and learned how to make balloon animals to entertain his grandchildren. Sandy never gave up on anything and was very stubborn. He taught his children to treat others respectfully, to be self-sufficient, and to help others whenever possible. Sandy is survived by his wife Barbara Daugherty; children Joshua (Carrie) Daugherty, Leslie (Steve) Carlson, Nicole (Andy) Johnson, Nathan (Danielle) Daugherty, Angela Rogers, and Brian (Brittany Beamish) Rogers; grandchildren Nina, Derick, Alexis, Emily, Julia, Christian, Cassandra, Connor, Tristin, Seth, Shiann, Christopher, Jackson, Sage, Sydney, and Elly; and great-grandchildren Mira, Elijah, Theo, Elliot, Astrid, Luna and siblings Duane (Gaylene) Daugherty and Kathy (Mark) Warring. He is preceded in death by his parents Sanford and Pearl Daugherty, and son Clinton Isaiah Daugherty. A celebration of Sandy's life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Burden-Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home (1806 East Michigan Avenue, Jackson, MI) where he will receive Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9:00 AM until time of service.
