October 11, 1951 – February 28, 2026
Shirlee Jean Curfman, 74 years young, passed into eternity on February 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family she cherished so deeply.
On July 13, 1991, Shirlee married the love of her life, Greg Curfman. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to second chances, enduring commitment, and quiet devotion. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service.
Shirlee was a proud and devoted mother to Casey Cretsinger (Steve), Travis Chesser (Melissa), Matt Curfman (Jason Cure), Bryan Curfman (Laura), and Libby Ikeda (Eric Lichtfuss). She was a deeply loving grandmother to Micah, Malachi, and Ephraim Cretsinger, and to Tigh and Max Curfman. Her grandchildren were one of her greatest joys, and she delighted in every hug, story, and moment shared with them.
She is also survived by her siblings: Jim (Cheryl) Oedy, Roger (Nancy) Oedy, Gary (Barb) Oedy, Sharon (Doug) Michaelis, Deb (Doug) Desgrange, and John (Noelle) Oedy.
Shirlee retired from Silver Maples, where she was known for her warmth and steady presence. Earlier in her career, she worked at Adco Products.
She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful rhythms. She loved long outdoor walks, tending to her flowers and creating spaces that reflected care and color. She volunteered faithfully at Jax Naz in the nursery, pouring love into little lives week after week. She was also a devoted Big Sister to Deriona and others, offering guidance, encouragement, and consistent support. Shirlee loved reading to children at Cascades Elementary, believing deeply in the power of stories and the importance of being present for the next generation.
Her loving caregivers and dear friends, Cindy Clark and Peggy Crowley, will be remembered as very special blessings in Shirlee’s life. Their compassion, faithfulness, and friendship meant the world not only to Shirlee, but also to Greg and the entire family. They walked alongside her with grace and love, bringing comfort and peace during tender seasons.
The family is deeply grateful to Hospice of Jackson for their incredible support, compassion, and care. Their kindness and professionalism provided strength and comfort during an emotional time.
More than anything, Shirlee loved her family. She treasured time around the table, family gatherings, conversations with her children, and the laughter of her grandchildren. Her life was marked by gentleness, faithfulness, and a steady love that shaped everyone who knew her.
Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the children she encouraged, and the countless small acts of kindness that defined her days.
There will not be a public service at this time; a private family gathering will be held.
To honor Shirlee and her life, contributions may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jackson or Compassionate Ministries of Jackson County.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
Mom, may you forever hit your 10,000 steps.
