

Age 70, of Jackson, died May 30, 2021 after developing complications from recent back surgery. He was surrounded by his loving family as he went to be with the Lord. Terry was born April 19, 1951 in Albion, Michigan to Wendell and Gail (Woodhurst) Collver. He was a 1969 graduate of Western High School and would go on to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. A lifelong educator, Terry brought a love and passion to the classroom that impacted countless students’ lives.
He was an avid sports fan and lover of all things University of Michigan. Go Blue! Many Saturdays were spent watching football from a raft in the pool with his two boys. Nothing gave Terry more joy than spending time with his family. He was a loving, caring, and compassionate man of God who would light up the room with that familiar “no-teeth” smile. Terry truly enjoyed living life to its fullest. He also loved to drive fast in the various Corvettes that he owned over the years.
Terry is survived by his wife, Diane (Payne); his two sons and their partners, Scott and Jaimie of Jackson, and Matt and his wife, Liz, his grandsons Cameron and Bryce of Grand Rapids; his amazing father and step-mother, Wendell and Mary Collver of Jackson. In addition, he leaves a brother, Jeff, and his wife Cindy, a sister Kim and her husband Paul Ewing, nieces Cari (Chad) Gray, and Cristin (Herb) Woolworth, the mother of his children and friend, Jan Collver, and Jaidon Payne, whom he adored and held a special bond with. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gail, whom was waiting for him at the gates of Heaven.
Terry’s beautiful wife, Diane, brought new family and loved ones into his life over the past year. He truly adored Diane’s children and grandchildren and was blessed with special relationships with Aaron, Brandon, Dalila, Maria, Tonya, Jamaron, Alexyia, and Treyson.
His family and friends will gather on Friday, June 4th for a celebration of his life at 11:00 am at Brookside United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Jennifer Jue will officiate and Apostle John S. Walker, pastor of Faith Temple Church, will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will occur from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with the funeral procession, to Spring Arbor Cemetery, following the memorial service.
