

Of Jackson, Michigan passed away with family by her side on August 28, 2017 she was 89. She was born on September 23, 1927 to parents Homer and Mary Florence Myers in Jackson MI. Thetis did many things in life for work such as, a waitress at Bill Cones, a laborer at Kelsey Hayes and also in the Alaska oil industry. Her hobbies included painting and quilting. While living in Alaska for over 30 years she had a lake named after her “Thetis Lake”. Thetis resided at Ridge Crest Heath Campus for a few years, she loved to help others trying to make things better for them. The Stesney family would like to thank all the staff at Ridge Crest for all the care and support they have given to her over the years. Thetis is survived by her children; Timothy Stesney, Jean Mapes, daughter in law, Kyle Ann Stesney, brother; Clair (Vi) Myers, grandchildren; Sommer (Todd) Mills, Scott Conklin, Nathan Stesney, Chris Mapes and Olivia Mapes, great grandchildren; Riley Conklin, Cherish Mills and Chase Mills, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and special friends; Jean Powell Copeland and Joann Dunlap. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Stanley “Buzz” Stesney. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 from 3:00pm -6:00pm at Chas. Burden & Son Funeral Home (1806 E. Michigan Ave). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Cascades Humane Society or Charity of one’s choice.
