Tonya Kay Duke

Tonya Kay Duke of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at the age of 64. Her passing on Thanksgiving Day will always be a reminder to the family as to how blessed they were to have Tonya and share her with the World. Tonya’s disability reminded us of how Love is a gift and how her unconditional love brought joy to us all. Although communicating with her had its challenges, she knew family and always remembered the times shared. Her smile and genuine laugh brought delight and made others feel good. Her need to have supervision was a blessing to the family. It reminded them to take time and share patience. Her life was truly a gift to the family and others around her. Tonya was born in Jackson, Michigan on October 29, 1959 to Milton and Hattie Duke, Sr., whom have preceded her in death as well as two sisters, Deborah Ruth Wright and June Carol Sweet. She will be remembered by her brothers, Milton (Sherry) Duke, Jr. and Donald (Beth) Duke; sisters, Donna (Scott) Maule and Melinda Sue Bracey and many nieces, nephews, loving family members and friends. A service to honor her life will be held at Burden and Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 12:00 noon. The family will receive friends at 11:00 A.M. for visitation. She will be laid to rest at Maxon Cemetery. Contribution in her memory may been made to the Christ Centered Homes, where Tonya resided.
