Alvin H. Gross, O.D., optometric physician and longtime resident of Atlantic Beach, died June 3, 2012 at the age of 85. His parents, Moses and Fannie (Sussfeld) Gross and siblings, Bill and Beverly preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda Swain Gross and stepchildren, Brian Swain of Washington D.C. and Lynne Swain of Atlantic Beach. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren, Kimberly, Zachary and Marygrace Swain of Jacksonville, and Sophie Swain of Atlantic Beach; niece, Ronnie (Andre) Khuri and their children, Roxanne and Marcus; niece, Rita (Robert) Pink; cousins and many other relatives, close friends, colleagues and scuba diving buddies. A celebration of his life will be held Friday, June 15 at 1:00 p.m. at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach.
