Betty Costa, 86, passed away April 30, 2012 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born April 8, 1926 in Turlock, CA. She was a Navy wife and worked hard at raising her 4 children. She was very active in her church, worked as a Eucharistic minister and devoted a lot of volunteer work in San Diego, CA. Betty also enjoyed spending time with her family and arranging flowers for her church. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Tony, her brother Frank Silva and her sister Phyllis Melendres. Betty is survived by her children, Carol Mahoney, David Costa, Mark Costa and Matthew Costa, 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial mass will be held at a later date at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2400 Mayport Rd. Atlantic Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Betty’s name to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jacksonville FL 32257.
