Beverlee Charlene Spandau Hoelzer, 82, passed away September 15, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Bev was born December 18, 1929 in Chicago, IL to Rudolph and Clara Spandau. She dedicated her life to her family and friends, lavishing them with her creative cooking, needlework, and painting with watercolors. Bev was a lifelong Presbyterian, formerly with Palms Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, and currently with Ponte Vedra Presbyterian Church where she was very involved with her ladies’ Bible study, hospitality ministry, and setting up the church library.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother. Bev is survived by her children Bruce (Joyce), Brent (Lucy), and Belinda (Denny); grandchildren Brittany (Will), Hollie, Laura, and Brian; great-grandson Huck; and sister Rosemarie.
The family is especially appreciative of the love and care from her lifelong friends, Judy and Bill Fidler. The family would also like to thank the Community Hospice Gold Team and caregivers Altamese and Shallandra for their extraordinary care.
A celebration of Bev’s life will be held 11am Tuesday September 18 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach with Rev. Richard Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at H. Warren Smith Cemetery.
