Carol was born with Down Syndrome in the 1950's and at that time her mother was told not to expect her to live beyond 18. As was Carol's nature, she proved them all wrong. Carol was active in school in her younger days and spent many years enjoying being a Girl Scout. She also spent many hours with friends and co-workers at the local workshop for handicapped young men and women. Carol enjoyed being around her family and watching her nephews grow into adults and have children of their own. She would
always ask: What's Scott, Kevin or Mark doing today?" She would then proceed to inquire about all eight
great-nephews and great-nieces. Carol loved looking at books, pictures and especially
getting cards for birthday and Christmas. Carol enjoyed life and drew great pleasure
being surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her mother, Florence McDonald and sister, Suzanne Evans (Al), all of Jacksonville, Florida; nephews, Mark Evans (Mindy) of Morrow, OH, Kevin Evans (Dawn) of St Augustine, Florida and Scott Evans (Carla) of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight great-nephews and great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Dewey McDonald and older sister, Sharon McDonald.
A private family service was held Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. Inurnment at Boner Cemetery in West Frankfort, Illinois will be scheduled at a later date.
