

Charles W. Hamaker (90) passed away on March 14, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 65 years. Marilyn B. Hamaker with whom he has no children. Charles was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 7, 1934. Charles was preceded in death by his only sibling, Samuel Hamaker.
Charlie, as his friends called him, attended the University of Florida where he studied engineering and was a lifelong Gator. He served his county as a U.S. Marine DD214 and was discharged in 1955.
His working career was with Tompkins-Beckwith Mechanical Contractors of Jacksonville and then he eventually retired from the Jacksonville Port Authority.
Charlie was an avid offshore fisherman and diver who served as Chairman of the Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament. He was also the Past President of the Jacksonville Offshore Sport Fishing Club. He was a pilot, played the guitar, authored the book series "Cane Pole Wisdom" and was an active member of the Rotary Club of Jacksonville.
Charlie met his best friend, Henry H. Beckwith at the age of 3 and they remained "best friends" until Charlies passing.
Charlie knew many people and he will be dearly missed. God Speed Charlie.
