

Born in Jacksonville, Florida, to Jimmie Gene Luckie and Hazel Segars, Michael, as he preferred to be called, pursued his education at Baptist Bible College in Missouri and Jacksonville University. He built a rewarding 31-year career at Florida Blue, where he cherished the relationships with his boss, team, and colleagues until his retirement.
An avid surfer, Michael loved teaching others to ride the waves. He found his greatest happiness at the beach creating precious memories with his children, grandchildren, fiancée, and family. Known for his generous hospitality, he delighted in opening his home to friends and loved ones, making everyone feel welcome. His warm presence and adventurous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving children: Kyle (Markie) and their daughter Kayden; Kelly (Travis) and their daughters Hallie and Isla; and Chad (Grace) and his sons Levi and Zak. He also leaves behind his beloved fiancée, Marsha Voyles Beatse and her children, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many close friends and coworkers who will miss him dearly. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Gene Luckie; mother, Hazel Segars; sister, Brenda Luckie Stallings; and his grandparents.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Sunday January 5th from 10am-1pm at The Fig Room- 412 2nd Street South, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250.
Family and friends are invited to drop in, share memories and enjoy refreshments. In keeping with Michael’s vibrant spirit, we ask that you come as you are and join us in celebrating a life well-lived.
