David Herbert Smith

David H. Smith, age 63, passed away suddenly as the result of an automobile accident in Jacksonville, Florida on December 13. He was predeceased by his parents, Lewis F. Smith and Virginia C. Smith of Neptune Beach. David was a graduate of Niskayuna High School in Schenectady, NY, and the City University of Denver. He was a lifelong artist, specializing in stained glass, who also worked as a teacher and was active in Democratic politics.

He loved nature, children, antiques, fascinating "found" objects; and his nieces, nephews, and extended family. For the last several years he was full-time caregiver for his mother and father until their deaths in January 2012, and in February 2015 respectively. He is remembered with love by his sister, Nancy S. Dilley of Jacksonville, and his brother, Peter L. Smith of Seattle, Washington.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on January 17th from 12 - 2 pm at Hardage-Giddens Beaches Chapel in Jacksonville Beach.
