Anyone who knew Diane has a story to tell of her. Some of them are stories of her love and giving, such as crocheting hats for premature infants or scarves for chemo patients. Others admire her unrivaled sense of adventure and the many stories she told them when she returned from her weekend adventures, unknown road trips or annual getaways. There are a couple that admire her tenacity and describe how she went back to get her bachelor’s degree at the age of 56 just because she could. But the majority of stories that people tell about Diane simply describe the happiness, love and the continuous laughter and smiles that she brought to those around her.
Diane did many amazing things and excelled at everything she did. When she was young she worked at Disney where she opened many attractions you can still visit today. She joined the US Army and become one of the first women admitted to army intelligence. When she saw the need for computer systems in a hospital she set out to learn one and became a specialist at that computer system for over 20 years with the Navy. On top of everything that she excelled at though - Diane was an absolutely amazing mother, one of the best.
Although these summaries can never do a life justice, words truly cannot convey the loss of this wonderful woman. She was an asset to the community, an irreplaceable component to the US Navy and most importantly, a source of love, laughter, joy and happiness to her friends and family. We will always love you and carry you close, Diane.
