Doodle and Ralph were my next door neighbors in North Cove. I could not have asked for better neighbors! When they moved to Vicar's, even though it was near, I was bereft. But each time I passed and looked over and saw her car, I knew all was well with the world.  All was always well when she was around. Several years ago, she gave me a birdcage with two lovebirds (not real ones!) in it that she did not have room for at Vicar's.   When I look at it I ALWAYS think of her and Ralph.  It is a wonderful reminder of my beloved neighbor and friend. I miss her terribly; but I know she is happy, healthy and having a great time where she is now. God bless you, Doodle and your wonderful family.

In 1982 Doodle was my realtor when I was looking for a house in West Hartford.  I was a single parent with two children moving from Branford, CT.  She found a great house, and I was thrilled --except,  there was a two week gap between when the bank could do the closing and when I needed to be out of my home in Branford.  I was distressed because I did not know how I was going to afford two weeks in a hotel for us and two weeks of storage costs.  Doodles response: "This is what we are going to do.  You are moving in with me and my family and we are going to store all your things in my basement."  I was stunned.  It was (and remains) the most incredible act of generosity bestowed on someone who is a relative stranger I had ever heard.  I told her I did not feel I could possibly accept such an offer.  When she realized I would not move in with my children and all my belongings, she went to work on the sellers.  She persuaded them to let me and my children move into our new house TWO WEEKS BEFORE WE CLOSED. Unheard of. She was an amazing woman and my deepest condolences go to her family at having lost such a treasure.
