Mary Callie "Pat" Taylor Cordray was born on the Fourth of July in Sulligent, AL and departed on November 30th, 2016 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. She is predeceased by her parents Jessie and Metter ( Cargile) Taylor, 6 sisters and one brother, and her husband Fred L "Bud" Cordray. Survivors include her son Michael ( Julie), daughter Callie "Cindy" Rockafellow ( Allen), granddaughter Christi McQuaig, grandsons Ross ( Erin) Rockafellow, Drew Rockafellow, and great grandchildren Caitlyn and Julia McQuaig and Brodhi Rockafellow, sister Alline Stubbs, and brothers Oliver and Bill Taylor and many nephews and nieces.
Pat moved to Jacksonville Beach in the mid 1940's and was employed by Southern Bell as a telephone operator until her marriage in 1950. She then became a partner in her husbands businesses including the SeaSpray Motel, and the Sealantic Mobile Home Park, while maintaining an active role in homemaking and raising their children. When Bud retired from the City of Jacksonville Beach in the 1980's, they brought an Airstream and travelled for several years, visiting the lower 48 states and Canada. Due to Buds illness, they gave up the Airstream and Pat found a new passion in working for China Cat Antiques learning and collecting treasures from the past. She had a wonderful eye for beauty and fashion, which helped her to enjoy this successful new career.
The family would like to thank the Beach House for the wonderful care they provided during Pat's final few months as well as the ladies of the antiquing community ( especially her friend of almost 70 years, Ruth Schneider). Anyone who knew our Mom, Pat, always said she was a woman of strength, style, love, humor, and class.
A viewing will be held in Tuesday Dec 6 from 6-8 at Hardage Giddens funeral home 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250 (904) 249-2374 and graveside services will be Wednesday Dec 7 at 1pm at Warren Smith Cemetery.
