Ray-Mond Monroe Corbin Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Born in High Littleton, Somerset, England, to the late Ray-Mond and Doris Corbin, Ray-Mond’s early life was as captivating as it was adventurous; he spent his youth traveling the country with his father and brothers, working as a stagehand in his father’s traveling magic shows.
At the age of 17, Ray-Mond joined the United States Navy, beginning a lifelong connection to the maritime community. Following four years of honorable service, he relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. He eventually transitioned to a civilian career at US Naval Station Mayport, where he served with dedication for over 30 years.
A man of immense talent and intellect, Ray-Mond was a master of all trades—there was truly nothing he couldn’t fix. His brilliance was matched only by his generosity. To say he would give someone "the shirt off his back" hardly describes his nature; he was a man who lived to help others, offering his vast knowledge and steady hands to anyone in need.
Ray-Mond had a zest for life that was reflected in his many passions. He found joy in the hum of a Corvette engine, the rhythm of a train on the tracks, and the peace of being out on the water, whether boating or cruising. He was also an electronics enthusiast and a seasoned traveler who embraced every experience life had to offer.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laura Jean Corbin. His legacy of kindness and strength lives on through his children: daughters Cindy Corbin-Holbrook and Ashley Rae Corbin-Tapia, and son Ray-Mond Monroe Corbin III. He was a doting grandfather to Reagan, Brody, and Melody, and a devoted brother to Ronald, Donald, and David. He also leaves behind a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with countless friends who considered him the best of men.
