Chard attended St. Paul’s Catholic School, Jacksonville Beach and was a graduate of Bishop Kenny High School. He attended the University of Georgia; graduated Army Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia, to then serve six years in the United States Army. Following a family business tradition he was active in the real estate industry as an appraiser, developer and real estate entrepreneur. An avid golfer, Chard played on the golf team as a freshman at Georgia and continued his love of the game throughout his life. He served a term as president of Selva Marina Country Club and won its club championship. As a Jaguar fan, he held season tickets from the team’s inaugural season and rarely missed a game. Traveling to foreign lands with his wife provided some of his fondest and most indelible memories. In the end, Chard’s most immense enjoyment would be derived sitting at the beach on a Sunday afternoon surrounded by family, watching the grandkids. Generous to a fault, Chard will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Rhetta, children Erin Chapman (Ryan), Courtney Heavener (Clark), Brandon McCullers ( Renee) , brother Stephen Hamilton, sisters Pat Bailey and Theresa Fletcher, grandchildren Cullen and Wynn Chapman , Jacob, Nolan and Hayden Heavener and nephew Trey Fletcher.
