

ENC (SW) USN-Ret. Robert L. Paris, Jr., 57, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2013 after complications from a long illness. Originally from Kennesaw, GA, he graduated from North Cobb High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served at several duty stations and ships for 22 years before his retirement. His proudest naval career highlight was becoming a “plank owner” on the U.S.S. Philippine Sea from Jan ’89-Oct ’92 at Mayport Naval Station.
Upon retiring from the Navy, he was a building maintenance engineer with several Jacksonville companies until his health failed. He married his high school sweetheart Vicki to whom he was married for 38 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Emily Minor (Chris) of Lubbock, TX and Alicia Cartrette (Josh) of Jacksonville; sisters, Ethel Paris of GA, Debbie Henry of Vidalia, GA and Robbie Washington of WA; in-laws, Lynn & Lou Fields of Cookeville, TN, Donald & Tracy Parker of White, GA and Terry & Mitzi Fields of McDonough, GA. He was a loving and proud Papa to his grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Devyn and Zoey and uncle to many nieces and nephews who loved his magic tricks. Mr. Paris will be buried at sea with full military honors.
