

Thomas Edward Cavanaugh, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on June 11, 2023 at 53 years of age. "Tom" was born on November 25, 1969 to Thomas and Deborah Cavanaugh in Royal Oak, Michigan. Tom graduated from Ferndale High School and enlisted in the United States Navy right after graduation.
Tom spent 12 years with the United States Navy and afterward chose a career in Information Technology. He excelled at all facets of IT. His last place of employment was Availity in Jacksonville, Florida. He was always eager to help family with their computer problems and make sure they had everything they needed from equipment to security. Tom had many hobbies from rebuilding his motorcycle to making furniture, spending many hours in his garage with all the tools he loved. There was nothing he couldn't fix. He also loved traveling to new places to spend time hiking in the outdoors and discovering new things. His favorite collection was all things "Star Wars" and his favorite painting was "Starry Night" by Van Gogh.
Tom married Sara Vaughn in a lovely, private backyard ceremony on May 4, 2020. Their dedication and love for one another was unshakable.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sara, his two stepdaughters, Mia Howell and Celeste Bowers, his parents Thomas and Deborah Cavanaugh, his sister Katie Sawicki and two nieces, Haley and Shelby Sawicki.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 5555 Gate Parkway, Jacksonville, Florida 32256 on July 8th, 2023 at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to his favorite charity, Wounded Warriors, would be appreciated.
