He grew up on a ranch and graduated from Mendocino High School in Mendocino California.
In 1941, upon his high school graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy serving as a Submariner with the Pacific fleet during World War II. He continued serving his country for 30 Years completing his Master Degree and finally retiring from the US Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1971.
He resided in Atlantic Beach, Florida since 1967. As the family patriarch he is survived by his son’s Richard Walter Eggers and William Albert Eggers their wives, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Beaches Chapel Hardage-Giddens (904)249-2374 l. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May, 24, 2014 at St. John’s Catholic Church at 10:30 am located at 2400 Mayport Road, Atlantic Beach, Florida 32223. Interment will follow immediately after at Beaches Memorial Park.
