

Commander (Ret.) William (Bill) C. Query, age 91, of Charlotte, North Carolina , passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
Bill, known to his fellow aviators as "Slim," was a distinguished U.S. Naval Aviator, serving his country with unwavering dedication and passion. He enlisted into the US Navy earning his wings in 1958, realizing his lifelong dream of flying, according to family and friends. During his active duty, he achieved the rank of Commander and was stationed at various naval air stations, flying diverse aircraft.
Following his retirement in 1982, Commander Query continued his flighting career as an Delta airline pilot and for Flight Safety as an FAA Instructure. His Aviation career spans nearly 50 years of service and over 15,000 flight hours. He embody the values of duty, honor, and courage, staying actively involved with the church and his community.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Jean A. Query, and their 3 sons, Robert H. Query, William F. Query and David B. Query, (4) Grandchildren and (3) Great Grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will begin at 2PM on Sunday, August 10th, 2025 at Beaches Chapel by Hardage-Giddens, followed by funeral services at 3:00pm located at 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250. After services the family will host a reception (at Beaches Chapel).
The burial will be Monday, August 11th, 2025 at 10:30am in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL with full honors by the US NAVY. Please arrive by 10:15am. LANE # 1.
