

Wilmer Clyde Clark, age 79, a decades long resident of Jacksonville Beach, FL, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 30, 2022 after a fight with Leukemia. He fought hard to stay with his family and friends for as long as he could. In the end it took his body, but not his spirit.
The son of Woodrow and Mary Clark, Wilmer was born on June 12, 1942 in Dothan, AL and attended Ashford High School. He and his six brothers and sisters moved from Dothan to Jacksonville in 1958 where he fell in love with and married “the girl next door” Joyce Rowe on November 21, 1961. Joyce was the love of his life and they were married for over 60 years.
“Loverboy” as his mother-in-law called him, was a dedicated servant to his community and spent over 23 years in law enforcement with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department. He also served as a Jacksonville Beach City Councilman, Jacksonville Beach Little League president and coach, Beaches Pop Warner football president and coach, was a member of Palms Presbyterian Church, and was a longtime Northeast Florida Realtor and Appraiser.
He was a dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend and he will be deeply missed. At his core he was a problem solver, an avid reader, loved conversation and anything Florida Gators. He enjoyed spending time with family most of all and would do anything in support of them.
Wilmer is survived by his wife Joyce Clark (née Rowe); children, Jonathan Clark and Douglas Clark; his sister, Janice Alig; brother, Timothy Clark; and grandchildren, Alex Clark, Victoria McBean and Taylor Grace Clark. He is predeceased by his mother, Mary; father, Woodrow; brothers Ralph, Wayne and Donald and sister, Martha.
The family will receive friends for the visitation from 5-7 pm, Friday, April 8, 2022 at HARDAGE-GIDDENS FUNERAL HOME, 1701 Beach Blvd. Jacksonville Beach. Funeral service will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, April 9, at the funeral home. Pastor Jerry Rouse will officiate. Wilmer will be laid to rest in H. Warren Smith Cemetery in Jacksonville Beach immediately following the service.
