

Ada Sue Holcombe, 79, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Dalton, Georgia she was a daughter of the late Zolly & Florence White. Sue moved to Jacksonville from Atlanta, Georgia with her family in 1969. Shortly after their arrival they joined St. Paul United Methodist Church and she has been a member there ever since. Sue enjoyed all kinds of crafts, but her biggest joy came from her family and spending time with them.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Holcombe, daughters; Lynn (Bill) Read and Cindy (Larry) Newton, Sons; Michael (Pam) Holcombe and Daniel Holcombe, sister; Helen McKenzie, 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Ruth McClure, Vera Carter and Jackie Morrison.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 8264 Lone Star Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32211 with the Rev. Michael Shockley officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Hardage-Giddens, Chapel Hills Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue’s memory to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32257 or to St. Paul United Methodist Church.
