Alpha O. Smith, 81, of Callahan passed away on June 10, 2012 surrounded by loved ones. Alpha is preceded by her parents Annie and Lonnie Hare, and husband James E. Smith, and sister; Inette Force. Alpha is survived by sons; Kenneth Smith (Sonya), David Smith, and Lonnie Ray Smith, brother; Charles “Al” McCurdy (Peggy), sister; Terry Hargrove (David); grandchildren; April Smith, Jamie Smith, Kenny Smith, Jessica Smith, and Michael Smith, great-grandchildren; Nicole Capps, Braydon Smith. Alpha enjoyed reading and watching the Golden Girls and Fox News. Alpha loved to cook and it was a known fact she had the best cooking this side of the state line. Alpha will be remembered for her determining spirit, great smile, and love for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, located at 7242 Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville, Florida 32205. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held o Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Interment is to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
