Andrea was born on February 3, 1979 in Celina, Ohio. When Andrea was a small child, she moved to Jacksonville, FL with her family shortly after the passing of her father, Eugene Sloan. Although Andrea spent the majority of her life in Jacksonville, she surely called both places home.
Andrea spent her childhood playing sports, making lifelong friends, and spending time with her family as the baby sister. She attended Baldwin Junior – Senior High School and then started a career in culinary arts. This became not only a job, but a passion for her. Andrea worked hard for several years to become a Culinary Supervisor at Ascension Medical Group. She found not only a job there, but another family.
Anyone who knew Andrea, knew her kind, loving nature and willingness to always put others before herself. She had a warm and generous spirit that was always spent on not only her family and friends, but co-workers, friends of friends and even strangers sometimes.
Andrea had many loves in her life. Her family was always first in everything. She loved animals, especially her cat, “Whiskey”. Andrea loved to have fun and laugh! Many of her best days were spent out on the water, sitting in a boat with a fishing pole in her hands. Her passion for cooking also spilled over into her personal life. Andrea always enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Andrea’s sharp wit and sense of humor will never be forgotten. Once she got started, she was definitely the life of the party!
Andrea was preceded in death by her beloved parents, father Eugene R. Sloan and mother Carolyn S. Sloan, a brother, Craig Ricker, her grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her immediate family, brother Mark Sloan, sister Amanda O’Keefe (Edward O’Keefe), sister Amelia Eddins (Mike Eddins) and sister Cindy Goatee. She was loved by her two nephews, Skylar Lee and Gavin Eddins and her two nieces, Sage O’Keefe and Macy O’Keefe. In addition, she is survived by close family members Betty Meyers, known as Aunt Beck, Shirley Sloan, and Dorothy Sloan. She will be greatly missed by many cousins and other family members. Andrea was also a bonus aunt to many nephews and nieces that also loved her dearly.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Hardage-Giddens Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida, 32205 with a Gathering of Family and Friends from 4:20 PM to 6:20 PM and a Celebration of Life beginning at 6:20 PM.
