Arthur G. “Tex” Maxwell died May 5 at his home. Born to William J. and Effie Sachtleben Maxwell in Mena, Arkansas he moved to Jacksonville in 2000 with his wife, Virginia. Mr. Maxwell served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy and retired from E.I. Dupont deNemours. In his retirement Mr. Maxwell was an avid golfer and gardener.
Mr. Maxwell was widowed in December 2013 just a few weeks shy of their 68th anniversary. He is survived by his son, William T. Maxwell (Shannon) and their son, Trey; his son, Arthur G. Maxwell, Jr. (Darlene) and their daughter Jennifer Maxwell Stark (Matthew) and their son, Maxwell.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 9 in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home 850 S. St. Johns Bluff Rd. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Mayo Clinic, Dept. of Development, 4500 San Pablo Rd., Davis 160W, Jacksonville, FL 32224.
