

Barbara Jean Johnson Nicholson aged 87, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026. She was Born on December 5th, 1938, in Jacksonville. Barbara lived a life rooted in kindness, faith, and quiet generosity.
A proud graduate of Lee High School, Barbara remained a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, where she built a family welcoming her son Robert “Bobby” Nicholson. She devoted her life to motherhood, community, and service.
Barbara had a heart devoted to helping others. She faithfully volunteered for many years at her church’s food pantry and clothes closet—formerly known as Lake Shore Baptist—where she gave her time selflessly to support those in need. Her faith guided her actions, and she lived as a true example of compassion and grace.
She found her greatest joy in life’s simple, beautiful moments. Barbara loved tending to her flowers and plants as they flourished under her care, just as the people in her life did. She adored all of her kitty cats, who brought her comfort and companionship throughout the years.
Barbara was truly a beautiful person, both inside and out. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and giving heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maye Batten Johnson and Tarver Ewell Johnson; her sister, Elizabeth Ann Parker; and her partner of over 30 years, James Longerbean.
Barbara’s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will always be remembered for her unwavering generosity, her love of nature and animals, and the gentle light she brought into the world.

A Visitation will be held at Riverside Event Pavilion, 1373 Memorial Park Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, US, on April 6, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Riverside Event Pavilion, 1373 Memorial Park Rd, Jacksonville, FL, 32205, on April 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Committal Service will immediately follow the funeral at Riverside Memorial Park.
