Barbara Ashworth Reid passed away peacefully on May 10, 2015. She was born in 1930 in Portsmouth, Va., and moved to Jacksonville in 1936. Following graduation from Robert E. Lee High School, she worked at the Jacksonville Credit Bureau. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Marie Ashworth. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Clay Reid, and son, Allen Reid. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the nurses and staff at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Community Hospice. A graveside service to honor her life will be held May 13 at 1 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday, May 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens/Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Jacksonville Humane Society, 8464 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32216 or Westminster Foundation for benefit of Riverside Presbyterian House, 2020 Park St, Jacksonville, FL 32204.
