Born on March 4, 1947, in Jacksonville, Ben lived a life rooted in simple joys. He loved hunting, classic cars, and above all, spending time with his six granddaughters—his favorite title in life was “Grandpa.”
Ben is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda; his children, Glenn (Tina) and Darleen (Marshall); five granddaughters and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by four siblings, with whom he shared an enduring and cherished bond.
He was preceded in death by his son, Clay; granddaughter, Vanessa; his parents; and four siblings.
A man who never met a stranger, Ben believed in hard work and the importance of family. Whether in the woods or at a car show, he was most at home doing what he loved, surrounded by those he cared for.
He will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered in every shared story, warm hug, and engine rumble.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32205.
In honor of Ben, the family encourages everyone to take a moment to enjoy the outdoors or a car ride—just as he would have.
