Benjamin Franklin Kerce, age 90, passed away January 8, 2017 in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Benjamin was born on December 28, 1926 in Lake City, Florida to Benjamin Joseph and Maude Kerce. He graduated from Mason High School in Columbia County. Benjamin was a member of Zoar Southern Congregational Methodist Church, where he served as a deacon for over 50 years.
Benjamin is preceded in death by his parents, fourteen brothers and sisters, and his great-granddaughter, Emilee Petteway. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Jackie Kerce; two daughters, Patty Kerce and Lisa Kerce; son, Ronnie Kerce (Stephaine); grandchildren, Nikki Waters (Derek), James Carter (Autumn), Jennifer Petteway, Ashley Altman (Shannon); great-grandchildren Will Waters, Leah Carter, Connor Altman, Austin Petteway, Colson Altman, Sarah Waters, Luke Carter, and Kenadee Altman.
Funeral services will be held at Old Plank Road Baptist Church, 8964 Old Plank Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32220, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
