Bertie Lee Briggs

Bertie L. Briggs of Jacksonville, while surrounded by family, passed away at the age of 89 on October 26, 2020. Bertie was preceded in death by her parents Ella and Waddie Lee and by her brothers, Hubert, Willie, James, and Charles Lee.

Bertie also was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Edwin Briggs Sr. and two loving sons, Raymond (Cecil) Briggs, his wife Martha Briggs, and David Briggs.

Bertie is survived by her loving children: Edwin Briggs Jr. and his wife, Laura; Kenneth Briggs and his husband, Scott Clark; Karen Howell and her significant other Robert Beason, and her loving daughter in law Pat Briggs. She is also survived by daughter Sylvia Lathem, and husband Earl. In addition, Bertie is survived by loving sisters, Ella Mae Cotton and Tommy Lou Perkins, 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, as well as numerous close-knit nieces and nephews.

Bertie loved to read, especially the Bible. She found joy in crocheting and knitting items for anyone that wanted anything. She also enjoyed playing internet games with family and friends. Bertie will be remembered for her love of her family & friends, and her determined spirit. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to your favorite charity in memory of Bertie Lee Briggs.
